Netley Road Vineyard Riesling
2011 Netley Road Vineyard Riesling
James Halliday Australian Wine Companion eNewsletter
"Distinctly deeper straw-green colour; the bouquet has hints of herb and stone which in no way prepare you for the iron fist-in-a-velvet-glove assault of the palate, its power unfolding in waves, mineral, lime zest and rapier-like acidity dominating the back-palate and finish. "

John Jens Western Suburbs Weekly
"The 2011 Netley Road Riesling is a new comer to the range and it is made from selected parcels of 45 year old Frankland River riesling vines that the winery has recently gained access to. Over the past twenty five to thirty years these established patches of riesling vines have consistently won National Show Circuit gold medals and trophies against Australias finest. It is wonderful for this states rapidly growing upmarket riesling image that this fruit continues in the hands of a winery that treasures riesling grapes of this quality. There are no soft, fresh, pretty and aromatic riesling characters here. This is a wine that is lean, long, dry and powerfully structured and that is full of uncompromising character. This is serious quality fruit and it to has ageing potential beyond 20 years. This is a beautifully textured Australian Riesling. "

Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine - Huon Hooke
"A shy undeveloped wine with lemon and lemon-grass aromas and flavours, very pure and delicate with pleasing shape and structure, as well as line and length. And a clean, dry, firm finish. A classic in the making."

Jane Faulkner - The Saturday Age
"Frankland Estate produces some of the most thrilling rieslings with its three single vineyard wines, including Netley Road, planted in 1966 (one of the oldest vineyards in the Great Southern). The precision in this wine is astonishing. Its so pure, slatey with the merest hint of citrus and florals, complex, deep and beautifully weighted in the palate, before its backbone of very fine acidity drives it to a super long finish. Fabulous now but has years ahead of it."

Tyson Stelzer - Wine 100
"Kaffir lime and lemon blossom define the bouquet. On the palate, a touch of residual sweetness adds to its guava and stone fruit depth, but its kept linear and true, thanks to its zesty acidity and underriding mineral structure."
