VINEYARD Netley Road Vineyard was planted in 1966 and is one of the oldest vineyards in the Great Southern. The vineyard site was chosen for its ironstone ridge that runs north to south with the vines selected for this riesling coming from those vines facing to the east of this ridge, allowing the vines to capture the early morning sun. The old vines and loamy soils produce a wine of individuality and intensity. The long, slow ripening periods typical of the Frankland River region allow maximum flavour developments while maintaining the distinctive racy and delicate acidity for which riesling from the region is renowned.
VINIFICATION The Riesling grape, when ripe and healthy, contains all the ingredients required to make fine wine. Grapes are pressed immediately with the juice left to settle in tank over night before being racked and fermentation introduced. Our aim is to minimise intervention in order to obtain the purest and finest expression of the pristine fruit from the Netley Road Vineyard. Fermentation was cool over an 8 week period.
